Artistic Director Atalee Judy is looking into the prospect of live performance online - live... as it's happening - from remote places. Sure it's easy enough to post, upload and YouTube your dance video or performance... but to see a streaming performance from a remote location like an abandoned factory in Toronto, or a deteriorating church in Northwest Indiana, or even Chicago's remote locations, poses some challenges that will require ingenuity and some foresight. No electricity, no signal, no internet = conundrum.
We'll keep you posted about this little adventure as we try to defy all the odds to share our site specific performances with you!
Breakbone is also scouting for muscians to collaborate with. We are hoping for live musical accompaniment during all of our performances for August 2009. The musicians should be Chicago based and will be a strong & crucial element of our live presentation. Right now, we are thinking there would be a simple set-up of live drums (to a click track most likely), bass instrument (string or electric), various electronic noisemakers or stringed instruments. Musically, musicians should be familiar with experimental, electronic & noise genres.
We are currently looking into a large warehouse space for this event and/or a small intimate performance venue. If you are interested in being part of this or know someone who might be able to help us facilitate online streaming technologies, musical collaborations or cool new sites for performances, please contact us! For a conversation about all of this please contact Atalee : atalee@breakbone.com | |

Having been awarded a Chicago Dance Makers Forum grant, Carpenter's physical theater performances have often intersected with political activism and critical theory. May 22-31, 2009 @ Links Hall.
