Anita Fillmore began her dance training at the Academy of Movement and Music at age five under the direction of Stephanie Clemens. She continued to study dance and piano at the Academy throughout high school. She received a BA in Political Science with a minor in Dance from Barat College in 2002. After graduating, she joined the teaching faculty at the Academy, as well as at the Beverly Arts Center and D.A.R.E. Dance as part of Hubbard Street Dance's educational program. In May of 2006, she received her MFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from the Tisch School of the Arts - New York University. She has danced with OPRFHS Orchesis, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, The Barat College Repertory Dance Theatre, The Second Avenue Dance Company, Bill Young and Colleen Thomas Dancers, A.I.M (Kyle Abraham), Project Limb, Jon Lehrer, and Instruments of Movement (Ziemba/Morrow Movement). In addition to teaching full time, Anita dances and choreographs with MOMENTA! Dance Company as well as Ziemba/Morrow Movement, and Breakbone DanceCo.
