Jan - Performed our combative fashion duet ‘datastarve’ on film for The Mini Video Arts Festival, hosted by HMS Media, at Ruth Page Theatre for The Arts. Breakbone receives a $10,000 anonymous donation on behalf of The Ronald A. Memorial Greene Fund. Feb - Participated in Susan Marshall & Company DanceMasters Workshop “Short Form Narratives in Dance”. Atalee was guest commentator for Columbia College class entitled “Cultural Realities & Identities” along with choreographer Darrell Jones. March - Participated in Urban Bush Woman’s DanceMasters Technique Class at MCA.Breakbone premiered ‘Stone Solo’ for Mindy Meyers at Dance Shelter, CMC’s annual Artist-In-Residence Concert. Atalee performed her signature solo ‘Logotype 03’ for the Los Angeles Women’s Solo Theatre Festival at El Portal Theatre in California. April - Atalee performed as a guest artist as part of the Andy Warhol/Silver Clouds Exhibit at LUMA Chicago with The Chicago Moving Company & 7 talented dancers. Breakbone receives a generous grant from The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. May - Traveled to Kostroma, Russia with fellow company member Tabitha Faes to perform in DiVersia International Festival of Dance. We performed an 18 minute new work to sold out houses with dance companies from Czechoslovakia, Latvia, Hungary, Russia, & South Africa. July - Preparations for our MUDBenefit are underway, online funding has been going well from individual donors. We raised close to $2,500.00 - thank you! Aug - The premiere of DE-evolution of Mudwoman opens for 3 weeks to excited crowds. The show consists of 17 performers, 10 dancers encrusted in dry mud, & 3 commentators who take notice of everything ... and I mean everything. Sept - The final & third week of Breakbone’s DE-evolution of Mudwoman completely sells out the final weekend & has to turn people away at the door! Also performed excerpt from Mudwoman - a duet/solo called ‘EXIT duet into DOG solo’ - for Chicago Moving Company’s annual blast, The OTHER Dance Festival. Oct - Atalee gets invited to be a dancer for Chicago Choreographer & Chicago Dancemakers Forum Grantee, Peter Carpenter, in his new work ‘My Fellow Americans’. Atalee turns 39 on Halloween - shares it with her guy Carl & some close friends. Nov - Atalee assists friend & comrade, Colleen Halloran on her thesis film project. And of course, OBAMA is elected on Wednesday, November 5th! Proud day, but no time for laurels; now the hard part begins. Dec - Atalee performs in Peter Carpenter’s works-in-progress showing of ‘My Fellow Americans’ for DanceBridge at The Cultural Center. Atalee speaks as guest panelist to 72 students at ‘Alumni Day’ at The Dance Center of Columbia College.
